In addition to visiting Interlochen Center for the Arts for masterclasses, Jim Walker will also be performing in concert with Interlochen’s Instructor of Flute, Nancy Stagnita.

“On Saturday, November 9, together with the great Jim Walker, we'll be spanning three hundred years of music and at least three genres, all on the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. We're breaking (musical) barriers and promoting unity right here at The Alluvion in Traverse City.

This dream I've had is coming to reality, thanks to Jeff Haas Music, Matt McCalpin, and everyone at The Alluvion. I hope you'll join us!

This is a recording featuring Jim playing Jazz Flute, Alto Flute, Piccolo and Penny Whistle with the amazing MacEwen University Alumni Big Band. The recording includes 8 compositions, “Pipe Dreams” by Allan Gilliland being the main component of this “bucket list” dream project. Also included are original commissions by Gordon Goodwin and Don Menza, two original compositions by Jim, a lively jazz/funk gem by Mike Garson and two great charts by Bill Holman:: “Stella by Starlight” and “Cherokee”. Composer Allan Gilliland spear-headed this project/concept following Jim’s final performance at USC in 2021, where Allan’s wonderful wind ensemble arrangement of “Pipe Dreams” was performed .  The recording sessions occurred in Edmonton in May of 2022.
